We are a Registered Ballot Question Committee in Nebraska working to educate voters about an important question that will be on our ballot in November 2020.

It will look something like this:

Confusing, right? That's why we're here.

A vote FOR this amendment will remove the 144-year-old language that still allows slavery as punishment for a crime. A vote against will leave slavery enshrined in our constitution.

Those are powerful messages - one right, the other wrong. Our state legislators knew that when they came together and voted FOR this amendment 44-0.

Nebraskans know this is a no-brainer.

Slavery isn't a red issue or a blue issue; it's a moral issue.

So let's vote FOR the constitutional amendment to eliminate slavery and finish the job.

Still have questions?

A constitutional amendment to eliminate slavery or involuntary servitude as a punishment for crime.

[ ] For

[ ] Against

A vote FOR this constitutional amendment would eliminate a provision in the Nebraska Constitution that states that slavery or involuntary servitude may be used as a punishment for conviction of a crime.

A vote AGAINST this constitutional amendment would leave the language regarding slavery or involuntary servitude unchanged in the Nebraska Constitution.
